Firmware/Software Engineer
We are looking to broaden the skills base within the MHA-IES development team by recruiting an engineer with wide ranging experience in the following areas. We expect that the person we are looking for will have a background in electronics with recent firmware and windows software experience. This role will involve you in the whole of the development process from initial customer contact through specification, implementation, testing and handover.
Essential Skills
Electronics Degree of grade 2:1 (hons) or above
At least 2 years' design experience in an embedded systems enginering role or similar.
Experience in and understand of writing in C and C++.
Experience writing code for a range of 8/16 and 32 Bit microprocessors (e.g. Atmel AVR/AVR32, Cypress PSoC, Microchip PIC and Texas Instruments MSP430).
TCP/IP stack knowledge
Experience of developing using Visual Basic.Net 2008.
Able to work well within a team or individually and to take responsibility for your work.
Good hardware skills (design, prototyping, repair/failure analysis etc)
Desired Skills (not Essential)
DSP (Digital Signal Processing) knowledge/experience.
Linux experience.
GSM/GPRS (TCP/IP, SMTP,FTP).
GPS.
Low level USB stack knowledge for USB enabled microprocessors.
Serial Communication Protocols (RS-485, RS-232).
Hardware design, schematic capture/PCB layout experience.
Experience of working in ISO9001 or similar environment.
